Is my Child at Risk for ASD?
If you are a parent who has a child that has just been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or if you have concerns that your child may have developmental delays, this online workshop is for you.
Mr. Toby Mountjoy (AP Director, BCBA), an ASD practitioner for over 26 years, will share his knowledge and answer questions live on the following topics:
- What is ASD and what are the Signs and Symptoms? The focus will be on the characteristics of autism and how it presents itself at different ages. Videos will be shown to demonstrate the indicators that parents should look for.
- Assessments and Evaluations. Mr. Mountjoy will discuss the pros and cons of going for a professional evaluation, which professionals to seek out for and what kind of evaluations are the most effective.
- How to Make Decisions about Treatment. In this section, Mr. Mountjoy will discuss all of the variables to consider in choosing a treatment and a service provider, and the questions to ask and advices to look for. He will also give an overview of what we know today about the treatment of ASD based upon the most recent science.
- Case Studies. Mr. Mountjoy will present the intervention progress of different students in AP, to see what they were like at the beginning and how they were after treatment.
